Featuring a dramatic confrontation from a legendary play, this small decorative paddle depicts two key characters at the Ataka barrier. The artistry is rendered using the padded fabric relief technique, creating two distinct three-dimensional figures that seem to step out of the wooden background. The base is crafted from fine paulownia wood, offering a lightweight and durable canvas for the intense scene. Bold, contrasting colors like deep black and brilliant red are used to emphasize the tension and loyalty inherent in the story. This Hagoita is a powerful symbol of strength and protection, making it a unique addition to any cultural collection. The skill required to balance two characters on a small scale is a testament to the artisan’s mastery.
