The aesthetic of a dignified man. Warding off evil and walking through life with confidence.
This striking piece portrays the iconic Kabuki hero Sukeroku in a bold, singular pose, symbolizing bravery, justice, and the refined spirit of old Tokyo. Dressed in his signature black kimono with a purple headband and holding a traditional snake-eye umbrella, Sukeroku is the ultimate symbol of a handsome and strong-willed protector. Master artisans utilize the 3D “Oshie” technique to build a voluminous figure using fine silk fabrics on a refined paulownia wood foundation. Every stitch and fold reflects a century-old tradition of artisanal excellence, designed to catch the light and add depth to the display. As an auspicious New Year’s lucky charm, this Hagoita is meant to ward off evil spirits and bring a bright, successful future to the family. It is an heirloom-quality decorative piece that embodies the resilience and proud spirit of traditional Japanese culture, wishing for the child to lead a life of confidence and style.
